Anything under the topic of dragons in your culture, Iʻd love to hear about it here. Any shapeshifters or skinwalkers particular to you? Anything ranging from the conspiracy greys to those long ago gone native? I personally believe that there are alien implications in my culture, particularly that of shapeshifting lizards. I could go much farther into this, especially when getting into other cultures.
Even all over polynesia there are legends and myths of a priest-like reptilian people who came from the stars in peace. The tahitians brought their hierarchy ways of war, lead by an army against the original inhabitants, who had no need for an army and were nearly entirely slaughtered, their teachings surving with hunted human priests, menehune and the Moʻoʻs freak storms.
"The lizard or mo'o, shape-shifting and agile, was one of the oldest and most powerful of guardian ʻspiritsʻ along with the shark, the owl and the hawk.
These guardian spirits were called aumakua in Hawaiian. Mortals did not harm or eat their living representatives, and their wisdom came through in visions and dreams. The mo'o has been described as a lizard of monstrous size somewhere between 12 and 30 feet, with a glistening black body."
If these beings were considered in an alien light AND if they could choose to be anything, the possibilities are endless (or do you believe this is too far-fetched to consider reality?). Any inhuman humanoid of any size could be a relative of this species, including any strangely proportioned or intelligent animals (egyptian gods or skinwalkers, anyone?). And theyʻre just as good or evil as human-kind. Some ate a strictly vegetarian/vegan diet while others took the form of a siren and seduced men to consume their flesh (male < female ratio depicted). If I am onto anything, the dragons from legends around the world never disappeared, they simply hid their true form from humans to avoid being hunted or killed. Did they rely on mimicry as camouflage? Did they leave?
Someone on Reddit claims to have surprised a very large lizard in Wisconsin, with white and black bands on itʻs tail and a darkened camouflaged indescript body, which ran away ʻfaster than a cheetahʻ. This was on /r/nosleep and not a truly honest subreddit (compared to /r/thetruthishere), so Iʻm less inclined to believe this claim. Regardless, please share if you believe legends and myths come about from the liars and exaggerators of the obscure past hehe..
Anyway, they likely continue to play the role of guardians or pranksters, as elves or animals with obvious intelligence behind their eyes. My culture saw them as guardians until invasions and war was brought to the land, then these creatures were villainised and those that survived withdrew into the forests and water (the tahitians sought to kill anything and anybody that didnʻt agree with them and their hierarchy, and the moʻo had originally brought the secrets of peace with them ʻfrom the starsʻ, so there was no army to fight them off and the original inhabitants were almost entirely slaughtered [including the more vegetarian menehune, who were humanoids of tiny/short stature].). Wise move, Iʻd say. Will these creatures ever feel we are ready, now that we rarely kill eachother? In my culture, the respect for the family designated guardian is still widely respected and followed.
I came upon this link here last month when I randomly decided to google my dogʻs name (and not for the first time), which motivated me to write here.
I named my dog Enki (after the god Enki-do, and username TheLordEnki who passed away a few years ago because it feels nice to have a best friend back). He responds to that name, after trying a few names as a 3-5 month old puppy. I researched the name a few times and I keep getting a wide variety of descriptions and legends, mostly from the Sumerians (oldest known language or something, right?). God of earth, prince, creator (which would be an interestingly unintended pun on dog/god). This is relevant here, especially since Enki had been described as reptilian as well as a giant hairy big-foot figure. Sound a little shape-shifty?
Iʻd love to hear your take on Reptilian ʻGodsʻ from even these ancient myths covered here. This website has lead me to places that claim thereʻs an underground native species while they are different from any space-faring reptiles or humanoids. Unless you like the /nosleep SAR posts, a comment under one of these submissions claims that he/she used to hang out with a similar interdimensional being that disliked coming around close to dogs. This makes me partially sad and very glad to have a detecting dog, even though his sudden super bark scares the beshit of of me. For any suffering from hallucinations verging on paranormal activity, I recommend training a pup to be a live-in alert system for pest or possible paranormal activity. I also have a cat, and they get along splendidly. As a note, pets make terrible pets, get yourself one before you gift one if you think you can handle it. I would love to hear what anyone thinks on the above creature(s) discussed above (lol guess you may even mention your pets here too, itʻs an open discussion)!
